The New England Patriots are preparing to begin the new NFL season against the Super Bowl runners-up Philadelphia Eagles, but coach Bill Belichick also has some personal matters to deal with right now.
It has been reported that the Patriots coach has split from his long-time partner Linda Holliday, who he had been with since 2007.
According to Page Six, they've been in the process of breaking up for approximately a full year now.
But, it's not a straight-forward break-up, with Linda Holliday even staying at Belichick's home lately despite the fact they're splitting up.
Headaches as Bill Belichick and Linda Holliday split up
One of the reasons why this is proving to be a messy break-up is the fact that Linda Holliday heads up the Bill Belichick Foundation.
Page Six also add that the break-up is causing headaches withing the New England Patriots offices, as team executives are concerned about how this might affect the coach and what his ex might choose to share online, given that she is very active on social media.
"We're told the team bigs are nervously wondering what Holliday might choose to muse about online next, now they've split," Page Six explained.
Belichick is focused on Philadelphia
In typical Belichick style, the coach of focusing on football and on this weekend's season opener at home to Philadelphia.
This will be a special game for the franchise, and for the coach, as Tom Brady is returning to be honored at Gillette Stadium.

"I'm creating a new memory with people there. To go back to that stadium and bring my kids and my family in a different way.
"I've not been to that stadium in this way ever. I went there as a player, I went there once as a competitor and now I'm going to go there really as a fan and then I'm going to be there in the future as a broadcaster.
"I don't think it's going to be hard to be a fan, though.
"I love the sport, and I love the Patriots. so going up there to see a lot of my friends and family is going to be a great experience."
