A sign regarding a cult Macca’s item has sparked concern, forcing the fast food giant to rush to ease customers’ minds.
One McDonald’s store in Para Hills, Adelaide, put up a sign regarding a price hike for $1 frozen Cokes, which are on the Loose Change menu.
“Due to a recent price adjustment all Frozen Drinks and now $2,” the sign read.
“Other prices have also been changed. Sorry for any inconvenience.”
The image sparked disappointment among fans of the cult item, with some labelling it a tragedy while others embraced their fate and let others know “the day has come”.
One person labelled it an “outrage”, adding: “And right before summer. How will I survive now?”
Other items on the Loose Change menu include a chicken and cheese burger for $4 and a soft serve cone with a flake for just $1.
But just when all hope appeared lost, Macca’s swooped in to reveal the sign had been put up in error.
Customers can still order any size Frozen Coke for $1 when they order and pay in the MyMacca’s app but, when ordering through drive thru or in store, a small is $1.
An additional 50 cents is added for an increase in size.
A spokesperson told news.com.au there will be no price shift of the product until at least June 2023.
“Macca’s is committed to providing great quality and great value food to customers, which is why we’re promising that our Loose Change Menu prices will not increase from now until at least June 2023,” the spokesperson said.
“Our Loose Change Menu offers Macca’s favourites for less, including the classic Hamburger, Fries, Chicken McNuggets, Sundaes and more.
